Notes Before – During – After the Check-up

Before the check-up

• Fast for 8 hours before sample collection: Do not eat breakfast or drink coffee, soft drinks, or carbonated beverages. If hungry or thirsty, only drink plain water.
• If you have an existing illness and are taking medication, you may still participate in a routine health check-up, but please provide this information to the doctor and medical staff.
• Prepare information about your personal and family medical history (if any).
  Women who are menstruating should not undergo gynecological examination.
• Pregnant women should not undergo X-ray, CT scan, or mammography unless absolutely necessary.
• Maintain good personal hygiene, especially of the body parts to be examined such as eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and genital area.
• Drink plenty of water and hold urine before abdominal ultrasound so the doctor can clearly observe the bladder, uterus and adnexa (in females) or the prostate and seminal vesicles (in males).
• Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and prepare a positive mindset for the examination.

During the check-up

• Follow the instructions of nurses and technicians to ensure the examination steps are performed quickly and accurately.
• Stay relaxed and avoid strenuous activity before blood pressure measurement or electrocardiogram to prevent inaccurate results.
• Inform the doctor if you have abnormal symptoms, are taking medication, have underlying conditions, or suspect pregnancy.
• During abdominal ultrasound: hold urine before the examination for clearer imaging.
• During blood sampling: sit still, relax your arm, and avoid rubbing the puncture site strongly after blood collection to prevent bruising.
• Listen carefully to the doctor’s explanations at each step to better understand your health condition.

After the check-up

• Have a light meal after blood sampling to avoid hypoglycemia.
  Wait for the doctor to summarize the results, provide risk assessment, and give treatment or follow-up guidance.
• Store the results (paper copy or via Zalo/Email) for convenient comparison in future check-ups.
• If abnormalities are detected, return for follow-up as scheduled or undergo additional specialized tests as indicated.
